SYNOPSIS:  A science fantasy novel set in a Shelleyan world where myth and reality collide. Morgan, gamekeeper to the Temple estates, is perfectly content with his lot. He has no aspirations to heroism, no delusions of godhood and no intention of joining the counter-conspiracy of the age. But since he has met and spoken with the conspirators, he will at least have to rely on their protection until he is safely across the border. His lack of enthusiasm notwithstanding, their suspicions are well-founded. Somewhere in the unexplored interior of the New World, a highly advanced and subtle nation has patiently been sapping the strength and will of the civilised world's authorities, and their work is nearly complete. Further subtlety is unnecessary: they have paved the way for an uncontested invasion. Some are of the opinion that only a resurrection of the long-dead hero Demogorgon can stand between civilisation and eternal slavery to the forces of Hades.
